It seems like rarely a weekend goes by when Darren isn’t at a charity event. LGBT causes, arts education, the list goes on and on. He even organized a Philippines disaster relief fundraiser (by offering autograph incentives) that raised over $80k in just a few days. He’s certainly not lacking heart.
In honor of his 27th birthday (February 5th, 2014) we would like to organize a fundraiser in his name for one of his newest associations, Musicians on Call. The organization has a variety of programs dedicated to getting music into hospitals, be it bedside performances or offering patients a chance to record their own music.
There are many ways to donate to the organization, but one stuck out: For a $500 donation, you can sponsor a patient room for an entire year. As Darren recently spent a day in an LA hospital performing with and for patients in their rooms, it would be a great gesture to sponsor a room (or two, or however many we can raise money for) in his name.
You can donate directly to our fundraising page here. This is the site used by Musicians on Call and the money will go directly to them, so there’s no worrying about shady third parties and will the money get where it’s supposed to - it will.
This site is very much a work in progress (there will be a better theme soon). Fundraising will continue until February 5th - Darren’s birthday - so we’ll come up with fun incentives along the way, hopefully. Hit up the ask if you have questions or if you can’t donate online but want to contribute.
Darren gives so much of himself to so many people, it’s only right that we give something back by helping a cause he loves.
